CHEESE POLICE! Summer is coming….embrace your corniness with some FRINGE SATIN PILLOWS!
There are some chairs that require you to be on your best behavior! It’s usually not just one issue but a multitude: a stern base, an unforgiving cushion, paltry back support, or fragile legs. These are sweet, TINY accent chairs for TORTURED beautiful people!
I find chairs like these irresistible — unlike a couch which can often be a resentful marriage (so much money, time, transportation, and SPACE) — accent chairs are wonderful summer flings for passing tastes and ideals!
They can be stowed in a corner, used for a nice book display, require way less shipping/general costs, and don’t offset or anchor a room quite as much as bigger pieces so you can always sell them when you’re ready to move on. If you live in a shared space or have a small room, an accent chair can add the right amount of personality per square foot that gives you a great bang for your buck. What are you waiting for? Get a freaky accent chair and watch your room and LIFE change.

Highly recommend checking out Paweł Grunert’s chair designs because he is doing insane things with WICKER that are terrifying and beautiful. “I dream of fields sown with chairs that grow just like grapevines in France” - PG <3
IN OTHER NEWS
There are four days left of Brimfield! It’s one of the oldest antique flea markets around and one of the best places to find good deals on furniture and antiques, particularly during the last few days when vendors are eager to sell off inventory.
If you have a business connect at Nordic Knots, the Scandinavian rug brand that is seemingly everywhere, please let me know! They’ve truly excelled at styling and photographing pieces with some solid partnerships and collaborations. I first noticed them at The Somerset House, but they’ve since gone on to collaborate with Paris artist Garance Vallée and Giancarlo Valle.
Waka Waka is having a Mother’s day sale with some nice stools and a few other vendors if you’re in LA and looking for a last-minute gift. If she’s a fan of furniture, I’d also recommend getting Phaidon’s book on female designers by Jane Hall.
NYC/NJ FINDS
I’ve never been a big magazine rack person but I love this weird metal one to add some nice pizazz to a room
A nice rocking chair and this one looks old and well-loved — very sleepytime tea bear kind of thing
Four chairs with perfect wood and long backs that would be nice with any dining room table! Could be good with some simple wood but would look bananas with a weird chrome table or something more modern
If I had the space in my own apartment I would get a bed UNIT…this one is spectacular
If you’re not ready for a bed unit these bedside tables are pretty nice and cheap for travertine…
Butcher’s blocks are so expensive! This one is a pretty good deal compared to any of the antique ones I’ve seen online — a very nice weird display piece and just GOOD WOOD! I love this and would buy it if I had more room in my apartment
I saw another Tito Agnoli daybed a few years ago and put it in my furniture files…now it’s available on FB marketplace! The armrests of this fold out and get very funky ….what I call FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. Pretty versatile and has some of the GRIP that was discussed in the last newsletter.
A beautiful sofa just in time for summer….simple and nice looks it would be perfect for drinking peach tea and reading some Mishima. Plus you could get some good antique quilts like these to lay on top of it or wacko pillows if it’s too plain for your style. (Personally, I’ve been looking at some old tourist pillows that are satin, fringe, and fantastic!) Summer is always kind of cheesy…embrace the corniness!
